This all may seem like a crazy idea but a few months ago my daughter and I had planned on taking all the yarn we have and loom knitting hats over summer break for the homeless this winter. We've now decided to also do this for the tornado victims but may need a little help. Any other loom knitters, knitters or crocheters (?) that would care to join in this project?

Gooey Butter Cookies

I got this recipe from my great aunt a few years ago and have probably made these more than any other cookie since then!  I decided I would use a red velvet cake mix today for Valentine's Day.  It is my daughter's favorite.

Gooey Butter Cookies

1 stick butter, softened
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 butter yellow cake mix (or any that you would like)

Mix altogether.

Chill.  Use cookie scoop and roll in powdered sugar.  Bake for about 10 minutes at 350.

I have made these using a strawberry cake mix for baby showers and they are a hit!

Here are a couple more "gooey" recipes that I received from a friend and co-worker years ago.

I have used different flavors of cake mixes with this recipe but since I discovered Duncan Hines cinnamon cake mix it is now my favorite!

Gooey Butter Cake

1 cake mix
1/2 cup butter (melted)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

1 8 oz. cream cheese
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar

1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Mix cake mix, melted butter, vanilla & 2 eggs with a spoon.  Pat into 9 x 13 pan.
3. Mix cream cheese, 2 eggs, vanilla with electric mixer.  Slowly add powdered sugar.  Pour over cake.
4. Bake 40-45 minutes.  Cool.

This next one is RICH but it is one of my husband's favorites.

Gooey Snickers Cake

1 German Chocolate cake mix
1 egg
1 Tbsp. water
1/2 cup butter (melted)

4 Snickers
1 8 oz. cream cheese
2 eggs
4 cups powdered sugar

In a large bowl combine the first four ingredients.  Beat until smooth.  Place in greased and floured 9x13 cake pan and smooth out.  In pan on low heat melt candy bars.  Stir in cream cheese.  Add eggs and beat until smooth.  Beat in powdered sugar.  Pour over cake.  Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes. Cool.
